King Charles has honoured those whose "service and sacrifice" helped to bring an end to World War Two in a personal message marking the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. In an audio message recorded earlier this month, the King will vow that those who fought and died in the Pacific and Far East "shall never be forgotten".

King Charles will lead British commemorations on Friday for the 80th anniversary of VJ Day, which marks victory over Japan and the end of World War Two, with famous buildings across the country lit up to mark the occasion.

The King and Queen will honour Second World War veterans on the 80th anniversary of VJ Day. Royal British Legion (RBL) will be guests of honour at a service of remembrance at the National Memorial Arboretum on Friday. Among them will be 33 veterans aged from 96 to 105 who served in the Far East and Pacific.
