A s the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal stream northward into the Tri-State Area, major weather changes are in store after a near-perfect Fourth of July weekend in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

A volatile week of weather is ahead in New Jersey with storm chances each day, including Monday when up to five inches of rain from the remnants of Tropical Storm Chantal could cause flash flooding in portions of the state.

A flood watch was in effect July 7 for several states, including Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. "Storm total rainfall of 2 to 4 inches, with local amounts up to 6 inches, is expected," the Weather Prediction Center said in a 5 a.m. ET update. "An elevated risk for flash flooding will continue."
