Supplemental Security Income recipients will get two payments in August because of how the payment schedule has been set up.

Social Security usually pays benefits on Wednesdays, with the first wave of payments going out on the second Wednesday of the month. That will be Aug. 13. Subsequent payments will go out on the third (Aug. 20) and fourth (Aug. 27) Wednesdays of the month, according to the Social Security Administration’s calendar.
