Southwest Airlines has dominated the headlines in recent months thanks to the carrier's controversial decisions to start charging for checked bags and changing how its aircraft will be boarded.

Five of the routes are now among Southwest's 11 shortest mainlandUS network: Sarasota-Orlando, Fort Myers-Orlando, West Palm Beach-Orlando, Louisville-Nashville, and Indianapolis-Chicago Midway.
