Orioles catcher Samuel Basallo has agreed to an eight-year, $67 million contract extension, a source told MLB.com's Mark Feinsand on Friday. The club has not confirmed the deal, which would be a pre-arbitration record for a catcher.

Samuel Basallo is a catcher by trade, but he can also play first base and his bat is more than good enough to land him at designated hitter.
