Protests have erupted in Washington DC after President Donald Trump deployed federal law enforcement agents for 24/7 patrols across the US capital.

Residents in one Washington, D.C., neighborhood lined up to protest the increased police presence after the White House said the number of National Guard troops in the nation’s capital would ramp up and federal officers would be on the streets around the clock.

Protesters chanted “Whose Street? Our street!” and “Go home!” toward law enforcement officers conducting a vehicle checkpoint stop across 14th Street NW.

DeWine said the troops are expected to arrive in D.C. in the coming days and emphasized that none of them currently serve as active law enforcement officers in Ohio.
