Firefighters in Spain and Portugal are battling a wave of wildfires as temperatures rise in the Iberian Peninsula.

Much of Spain and Portugal is under a high risk of wildfires and temperatures are expected to rise over the weekend. Areas of central Kansas, including around Wichita, could see heavy rain overnight Thursday into Friday that could cause flash flooding, the National Weather Service in Wichita said.

EL ARENAL, Spain/AROUCA, Portugal (Reuters) -Thousands of firefighters struggled to put out a dozen wildfires raging in northern Portugal and central Spain through the night and into Wednesday, in the largest wave of blazes in the Iberian Peninsula so far this year after weeks of summer heat.
