José Ramírez collected three hits and scored three runs, moving past Kenny Lofton for third place on the Guardians’ all-time runs scored list in a 9-4 win Thursday against the Marlins at Progressive Field.

Ramírez surpassed Cleveland legends Albert Belle and Jim Thome, who each had 26 multi-homer games while playing for Cleveland. His record-breaking performance included a first-inning solo shot off Marlins starter Janson Junk and a decisive eighth-inning blast against reliever Calvin Faucher that broke a 3-3 tie.

José Ramírez knew when he was 15 years old and growing up in the Dominican Republic that he could end up being a pretty good home-run hitter.

What may have been lost in Ramirez's historic night is the continuation of a remarkable turnaround from the Guardians. Cleveland (62-56) is 22-8 in its last 30 games. Following a July 6 loss to its AL Central rival Detroit Tigers, Cleveland was 40-48 and losers of 10 in a row.
