A serene Palm Beach Gardens golf course became the scene of a horrifying crime as a man was beaten with golf clubs and drowned in a pond during what police describe as a "random act of violence."

A man was fatally beaten with his own golf clubs in a seemingly "random" attack at a Florida golf course, authorities said.

Investigators say the man in custody hit Brian Hiltebeitel with a golf club and then choked him as they fought in a pond at Sandhill Crane Golf Club.

A witness said he heard the victim yelling "he's trying to kill me" while running away from Boucher, who was allegedly brandishing a golf club, according to a Palm Beach Gardens Police Department affidavit.

Junior Boucher, 36, is accused of killing Brian Hiltebeitel, 65, formerly of Warminster, who died in the attack on Palm Beach County course.

The suspect unleashed a "random" attack on the victim, a 65-year-old man, using the victim's golf clubs, the police chief said.
