The United States has sent 68 immigrants from Honduras and Colombia back to their countries in the first government-funded flight of what the Trump administration is calling voluntary deportations

The migrants were given a $1,000 debit card and told they will be allowed to apply for legal entry into the United States.

The first immigrants who agreed to self-deport and accept a $1,000 stipend left on a chartered flight out of the United States on Monday, the Department of Homeland Security said.
