A plane from Wichita that collided with a helicopter over the Potomac River was traveling a nonstop route established only a year ago, officials say.

Several coaches and skaters with the United States figure skating team were on the flight from Wichita to Washington, D.C., that crashed Wednesday night, according to U.S. Figure Skating. The flight is not believed to have any survivors.

The NTSB may also take custody of victims’ personal effects but will return them to designated family members. You can call the board’s Transportation Disaster Assistance division at the above number for personal effect inquiries. D.C. area coroners will likely handle victim identification.
