Rescue operations concluded on Tuesday with the recovery of two more bodies from the landslide that struck VOC Nagar in Tiruvannamalai district, bringing the total death toll to seven.

TIRUVANNAMALAI: The bodies of two more people trapped in the landslide in Tiruvannamalai district were recovered on Tuesday. The rescue team had earlier on Monday recovered the bodies of the other five people who got trapped.

A second landslide hit the Tamil Nadu temple town of Tiruvannamalai Monday afternoon, a day after a first led to a boulder falling on a residential building and trapping seven people.

The bodies of five children and a couple were recovered 20 hours after being buried under a landslide caused by Cyclone Fengal in Tiruvannamalai. NDRF and TNDRF teams worked under threats of more landslides.
