There is a new wildfire burning in central Oregon Monday. The Alder Springs Fire is estimated at 1,500 acres. The area burning is northwest of Redmond, south of Lake Billy Chinook. It is burning on the Crooked River National Grassland.

As the Rowena fire spread rapidly, firefighters saved a National Park Service site in the Columbia River Gorge.
