A monthslong delay in appointing a replacement for Nikolas Kerest has left Vermont without even an acting or interim U.S. attorney, a predicament shared by only one other district in the country.

Columbia denied Mahmoud Khalil, SIPA ’24, access to campus for three separate visits earlier this month, citing “security reasons,” according to Khalil and a spokesperson from the Journalism School.
