Google’s Gemini AI has steadily made its way to the best of its software suite, from native Android integrations to interoperability with Workspace apps such as Gmail and Docs. However, some of the most advanced Gemini features have remained locked behind a subscription paywall.

The Google Gemini app gained new AI features like Deep Research and the experimental 2.0 Flash Thinking model. In December 2024, the search engine company released Gemini 2.0 Flash, which supports multimodal inputs and outputs.

Google is adding new personalization features to Gemini, including an option to have the chatbot search across your Google ecosystem activity.

On Thursday, Google announced that it was making two of its most popular features available to all users: Deep Research and Gems. Both of these features will allow users to unlock another level of Gemini assistance, even adding agentic capabilities.

Google is taking Gemini to the next level and giving users more with major upgrades aimed to make Gemini even more personal, plus many of the upgrades are free.
