Chase McLaughlin had a second chance in overtime and kicked a 30-yard field goal with 2:50 left in the session as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers escaped with a 26-23 victory against the host Carolina Panthers on Sunday in Charlotte.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Chase McLaughlin kicked a 30-yard field goal in overtime, Baker Mayfield overcame an ankle injury to lead four scoring drives in the fourth quarter and the extra period, and the Bucs beat the Carolina Panthers 26-23 on Sunday to move into a tie for first place in the NFC South.

Coming off of a close loss against the Chiefs, the Panthers brought their hunger and drive for a win into Sunday’s game against the Buccaneers. Despite leading for the majority of the game, Panthers were no match against the Bucs following a heart-breaking field goal.

When the Tampa Bay Buccaneers went 4-6 before their bye week, it seemed their chances of making the playoffs were pretty slim. But they played in the NFC South, which kept the door open. The Atlanta Falcons might let the Buccaneers steal the division title.
