The ongoing crisis has displaced tens of thousands of the city’s residents, including numerous celebrities, and prompted other awards shows to postpone.

As of now, thousands of structures have been destroyed and at least 27 people have died as a result of fires in Altadena, Malibu and Pacific Palisades. Focusing on a ceremony that spotlights wealthy stars and the “glitz” of the red carpet could potentially be seen as tone-deaf, some celebrities have argued.

The nominations for the 97th Annual Oscars are moved again as the L.A. wildfires continue to rage across the region.

On Wednesday, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the extended voting period in a letter to Academy members, which EW has reviewed. Nominations voting opened Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. PT, but the deadline for those votes has been pushed back by two days, from Sunday, Jan. 12 to Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 5 p.m. PT.
