The Cincinnati Bengals have been on the receiving end of some heat here and there for the trade that sent Joe Mixon to the Houston Texans. Never mind that the Bengals were ready to move on and trying to do right by Mixon while shipping him to a contender instead of cutting him.
However, general manager Nick Caserio must address critical roster decisions to keep the Texans on their upward trajectory. Injuries can only serve as an excuse for so long. The element of surprise that defined Houston’s 2023 campaign is no longer a factor.
According to OverTheCap.com, the Houston Texans are not expected to receive any comp picks after retooling the roster in free agency. Despite the team’s loss of defensive end Jonathan Greenard and linebacker Blake Cashman, Houston canceled out the comp picks by signing defensive end Danielle Hunter and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair.
The Bengals traded Mixon to the Texans in March in exchange for the 224th pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Mixon ran for 1,016 yards and 11 touchdowns this season. He also had 36 catches for 309 yards and one touchdown.
