Pittsburgh Steelers third-string quarterback Kyle Allen is heading to the Detroit Lions on a one-year deal to join Jared Goff in the quarterback room. Allen threw just one pass in the regular season, and he was the true backup in eight games when injuries hit Russell Witlson and Justin Fields.

Per Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network, the Lions are signing free agent quarterback Kyle Allen. The 29-year-old Allen has been an NFL journeyman, with Detroit representing his fifth team in as many seasons.
