The Washington Commanders went into the NFL draft with five picks and no urgency to make a big splash a year since selecting franchise quarterback Jayden Daniels and after making trades and free agent signings to build around him.

Washington entered the draft needing to fill some holes. Most believed that finding an edge rusher was the most significant need. The Commanders disagreed, choosing to fill other needs on both sides of the ball.
