After a calm night in downtown Los Angeles, Mayor Karen Bass is trimming the hours of a curfew. The curfew was imposed last week after days of protests and looting that followed President Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown.

The curfew affecting the Civic Center, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and other nearby communities had been in effect nightly from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Bass cited “successful crime prevention and suppression efforts” as the reason for the shift in the curfew’s start time.

Mayor Karen Bass reduced the hours that a nightly curfew in downtown Los Angeles is in effect on Monday, allowing struggling businesses to remain open later into the evening.
