A federal appeals court in San Francisco is scheduled to hear arguments Tuesday on whether the Trump administration should return control of National Guard troops to California after they were deployed following protests in Los Angeles over immigration raids.

California urged a federal appeals court to leave in place for now a lower court’s order that would limit the Trump administration’s use of National Guard troops in Los Angeles to respond to protests over the president’s immigration raids.

A major court ruling Tuesday will decide who’s in control of California’s National Guard. A federal appeals court ruled last week to pause a lower court ruling calling President Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard for ongoing immigration protests in Los Angeles unlawful.
