Testifying in the Google Search antitrust trial yesterday, Chrome general manager Parisa Tabriz said Chrome’s features and functionality owe to its “interdependencies” on other parts of the company, reports Bloomberg.

Web browsers like Mozilla's Firefox and Apple's Safari already block third-party cookies by default, so Google Chrome would have just been playing catch-up. However, Chrome makes up a whopping 66 percent of the global web browser market share, so most internet users are still exposed to third-party cookies thanks to Google.

As the federal government and Google work through potential remedies for the company’s illegal monopoly over online search, OpenAI is interested in purchasing the Chrome browser, should the court order it be sold off to loosen Google’s grip on the market.
