Typically, Shams Charania breaks news about other people’s contracts. Now the longtime NBA insider is breaking some news about himself, revealing on Monday that he is officially joining ESPN.

Shams Charania talked to CNBC about joining ESPN to replace rival and former mentor Adrian Wojnarowski, aka Woj, as the network's NBA insider.

Charania could also decide to stay put at The Athletic and FanDuel TV. Per FOS, Charania earns an estimated $3 million per year, which is more than half of what Woj earned at ESPN before retirement.
