Condor was Lufthansa’s leisure brand from 1959 to 2009 when Lufthansa sold Condor to Thomas Cook. Lufthansa had also put in a bid to buy the airline back in May of 2019, as Flight Global reported.

Lufthansa last year said it would cancel that agreement, prompting Condor to complain that Lufthansa abused its market dominance. Lufthansa later agreed to extend the agreement until May 2022.

A deal failed to materialize, and having managed to extricate itself from the rest of Thomas Cook, Condor is on the lookout for a new owner. It is unlikely, however, to be Lufthansa.

The Commission said Lufthansa should reinstate arrangements agreed in June 2024 that provided feeder traffic to Condor to and from Frankfurt, but ceased to apply in December.
