Cameron Young was in such a good position as the Wyndham Championship wound down that he knew he'd have the right finishing touch. Young shot 2-under-par 68 in the final round and wasn't challenged on his way to his first PGA Tour victory Sunday at Greensboro,

Young became the 1,000th player to win a recognized PGA Tour event, dating to Willie Park in the 1860 British Open.

Young grew up at Sleepy Hollow and piled up wins on the home front. At the age of 14, he became the youngest winner of the Westchester Amateur. Young won the Ike Championship in 2015 and 2016 and the New York State Open in 2017 at Bethpage Black, where he carded a final-round 64. He was the Met Player of the Year in 2015.
