Of course, St. Catherine of Siena’s mission was ultimately an eternal one. The people of Italy look to her still to this day, and we should, too, especially during this time of pandemic.

On this day we celebrate the feast of St. Catherine of Siena, Dominican tertiary, mystic, advisor to popes, writer, Doctor of the Church. Catherine Benincasa was born in Siena, March 25, 1347.

St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church was founded on July 8, 1912 at the current site of the Dundee Township Historical Society at 426 Highland Ave. in West Dundee.

The St. Catherine of Siena Parish School opened in 1957, and the property underwent reconstruction in 2008. The school closed in 2020 with enrollment on the decline.
