The Patriots need to make a legitimate play for Alec Pierce, should the wideout not re-sign with the Colts ahead of free agency next week.

An Indianapolis Colts free agency rumor from Adam Schefter could lead to an ascending star departing the franchise and signing with the Los Angeles Chargers, New England Patriots, or Tennessee Titans.

The tag deadline came and went on Tuesday, ending NFL teams' window to use the franchise and transition tags on players with expiring contracts. Some players were stuck with a one-year placeholder, while others will be allowed to test their value on the open market.
