Officers are chasing a driver in a possibly stolen car on streets in the Mid-City area and Hollywood. Details about what led to the chase were not immediately available.

LAPD investigators say that the child and a dog were both found abandoned inside of a car connected to an attempted auto theft in Highland Park on Sunday morning.

A police officer and teen suspect were taken to the hospital after a chase ended in a crash in Upland overnight.

"Efforts to identify the child through all available means have been unsuccessful, and no custodial parent or family member has contacted the police to locate the child," police said. "The child is male, with a medium complexion and curly brown hair, and was wearing a light gray quarter-zip sweater."

A 19-year-old mother has been arrested after officers found her baby and a dog abandoned in a car while responding to a call for an attempted vehicle theft in Highland Park, authorities said.
