Some city leaders in Lewiston are calling on a school board member, and newly elected city councilor, to resign, saying he's become a distraction.

Starting Monday, the Alter L/A Emergency Warming Center in Lewiston will operate around the clock. The emergency shelter, run by the team behind Kaydenz Kitchen, will offer expanded hours at its 70 Horton Street location. The new shelter opened at the beginning of November, offering about 100 spaces from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

A new 24/7 warming center opened its doors this week just in time for the first winter storm of the season. Located at 70 Horton St. in Lewiston, the Alter L/A Emergency Warming Center can shelter up to 100 people.
