(CNN) - “The Bear” star Ayo Edebiri said she has received racist comments and death threats because of Elon Musk. Edebiri posted to Instagram that, about a year ago, a post falsely claimed that she was being considered to replace Johnny Depp in a new “Pirates of the Caribbean” movie.

The debut film from director/writer Mark Anthony Green is a messed-up send-up of pop-culture celebrity that has few redeeming qualities.

Back in February, Musk shared a post on X (formerly Twitter) claiming that Edebiri was being considered to replace Johnny Depp in a newest installment of Disney's Pirates of the Caribbean movie. Though the reports didn't appear to have any basis, Musk reshared the post along with the caption, "Disney sucks."
