The New York Yankees have been in an extended slump. They have dealt with many injuries, and have a new player sidelined.

NEW YORK — Joe Ryan allowed a run and four hits in 6 2/3 innings and the Minnesota Twins beat the Yankees 4-1 on Wednesday night, breaking a nine-game losing streak to New York. Ryan (12-5) allowed only a homer to Cody Bellinger in the game that was delayed at the start for 1 hour, 52, minutes because of rain.

Clemens, a two-time Most Valuable Player, 11-time all-star and one of the best to ever take the mound, focused much of his talk on confidence, Kriske and fellow pitcher Thomas Hatch said. The message was to “trust your stuff, and (that) it stacks up with anybody that we play,” Hatch said.
