Daily Mail on MSNAnti-Trump protesters gather outside US consulate in Edinburgh
Hundreds of demonstrators gathered outside the U.S. consulate in Edinburgh on Saturday (July 26) to protest President Donald Trump's visit to Scotland. Protesters listened to speeches and held signs and placards criticising Trump.
U.S. President Donald Trump, dogged by questions about his ties to disgraced financier and sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, arrived in Scotland on Friday for some golf and bilateral talks that could yield a trade deal with the European Union.
The 79-year-old touched-down at Prestwick Airport at around 8pm on Friday ahead of a five-day private visit to his luxury golf resorts at Turnberry in Ayrshire and Menie in Aberdeenshire.
The Scots are generally not fans of Mr. Trump, and protests are already planned. A group called “Stop Trump Scotland” said it is organizing a “festival of resistance” against Mr. Trump during the trip and has called on John Swinney, the first minister of Scotland, to decline to meet with him.
