A late comeback attempt fell just short for the Tampa Bay Lightning in a 5-3 loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Toronto led 4-0 through two periods at AMALIE Arena, but the Lightning scored three goals in the final nine minutes to make it 4-3.

After Hedman passed Marty St. Louis (588) as the Lightning’s all-time assist leader, he joked that his record would be short-lived. Kucherov stands just 15 behind him with 575 in 747 career games, compared to Hedman’s 590 in 1,075.

Auston Matthews picked up an assist in his return to the lineup and Joseph Woll stopped 38 shots as the Toronto Maple Leafs beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 5-3.
