Authorities in Scotland have canceled trains and closed parks as a rare summer storm brings destructive winds to northern Britain.

Although cruise ships avoided the worst of the damaging weather system that swept through the U.K., some couldn’t completely steer clear of rough seas.

Thousands of homes have been left without power after “significant disruption” caused by Storm Floris. The Scottish Government called an emergency meeting in response to the storm as delays on rail, roads and sea continued into Tuesday. ScotRail said suspended routes would not be reopened until around 4pm.
