A 16-year-old boy from Apple Valley was charged Wednesday in connection with a Minneapolis shooting that killed an 11-year-old boy last month. Police arrested the teen about 9 a.m. Tuesday in Apple Valley. Amir Atkins, 11, of Hopkins was shot and killed on the afternoon of June 23 at Folwell Park on Dowling Avenue North in Minneapolis.
Authorities say there's evidence that Amir Atkins, the victim, pointed what appears to be a firearm at the suspect before being shot.
