U.S. District Judge Deborah Boardman, on Wednesday, issued an order preventing President Trump’s attempt to restrict birthright citizenship. The judge gave a reason.

A second federal judge in two days has blocked President Donald Trump’s effort to end birthright citizenship for the children of parents who are in the U.S. illegally, decrying what he described as the administration’s attempt to ignore the Constitution for political gain.

On Thursday, U.S. District Judge John Coughenour, in Washington state, likewise issued a preliminary injunction, writing that the Trump administration’s position on birthright citizenship is “unavailing and untenable” and calling birthright citizenship “an unequivocal Constitutional right” that the president can’t change with an executive order.

The president’s executive order seeks to end the automatic grant of citizenship to children born on U.S. soil.
