Top-ranked Jannik Sinner and Matteo Berrettini won their singles matches to lift defending champion Italy past Australia 2-0 and back into the Davis Cup final.

By Fernando Kallas MALAGA, Spain (Reuters) -Italian Jannik Sinner completed a remarkable season by sealing his country a second successive Davis Cup title with a 2-0 victory over Netherlands in the final at the southern Spanish city of Malaga on Sunday.

Matteo Berrettini has put Italy ahead 1-0 against the Netherlands in the final of the Davis Cup by beating Botic van de Zandschulp 6-4, 6-2.

It was Italy's third title in the elite men's team competition following their triumphs in 1976 and last year.

Italy has retained the Davis Cup with a 2-0 victory over the Netherlands in Malaga, Spain. Matteo Berrettini laid the foundations with a 6-4, 6-2 victory over Botic Van de Zandschulp, before Jannik Sinner defeated Tallon Griekspoor 7-6(2),
