With demand for AI-powered browsers on the rise, Microsoft on Monday launched a new feature in its Edge browser called Copilot Mode, which allows users to browse the web while being assisted by AI. The idea is that the AI can become a helper that can understand what the user is researching,

Microsoft launches Copilot Mode in Edge, an AI-powered feature that simplifies browsing, helps users make decisions, and supports voice commands.

Microsoft declined to comment on the GPT-5 references in Copilot, and the company isn’t commenting on its new smart mode, either. If all goes well with OpenAI’s final GPT-5 preparations, then I expect we’ll see Copilot’s smart mode show up for everyone very soon.
