A 33-mile trip from one protest in Annapolis, Md., to the parade grandstand in front of the White House was like a journey between two different countries.

The Army pulled off a sweeping affair featuring more than 6,000 soldiers, 50 aircraft, and fireworks to cap the event highlighting its 250th anniversary.

The procession, with more than 6,000 soldiers and 128 Army tanks, was one Trump tried to make happen in his first term.

Law enforcement officials reported no arrests from the celebration in D.C. that drew several thousand parade watchers, with some demonstrators protesting against the show of military strength.

Millions of demonstrators mobilized around the country as a smaller, subdued crowd gathered to witness the display of grandeur and might in the nation’s muggy capital.
